Information handled when you visit
When your browser requests a page, the servers delivering the site receive technical information needed to respond, including your IP address and the page requested. Hosting and security logs may also record the request time, browser or device details, and referring page. We use this information to deliver the site, maintain it, investigate faults, and protect it from abuse, relying on our legitimate interests in keeping the site available and secure. Logs are kept only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes and any applicable legal requirements; the precise period depends on the hosting and security systems in use.
Website analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand which pages people read and how visitors find the site. Ahrefs says its analytics does not use cookies or persistent identifiers. It processes page URLs, referrers, browser and device information, and language preferences, and can record events such as page views, link clicks, and form submissions. It uses IP address information to estimate a visitor's city and country and to count daily visitors. For daily visitor counts, Ahrefs says it combines an IP address and browser information with a daily changing salt, then discards the raw IP address and the salt. Read Ahrefs' explanation of its analytics for more detail about its processing.
Our site search places search terms in the page URL. As Ahrefs records page URLs, a search entered on this site may therefore be included in analytics data.
We use these reports to understand readership and improve the publication. We rely on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site. Ahrefs receives the analytics data to provide its service, and its own service policies govern how it handles that data. Ahrefs says information may be transferred internationally and describes its transfer safeguards in its privacy policy and data processing addendum.
Browser storage and cookies
The light and dark theme switch saves your choice in local storage in your browser under ionnode-theme. This preference remains on your device until you clear your browser storage; the theme script does not send it to us.
Essential session and security cookies may be used when signing in to protected administration or preview features so those features can authenticate you and protect site actions. The public reading experience does not require an account. We do not use advertising cookies on the publication.
Messages, admin accounts, and bylines
If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message so we can reply and manage your request. We use this information for our legitimate interest in handling correspondence and maintaining the publication.
If you have an administrator account, we process account and authentication details to provide and secure access, relying on our legitimate interests in managing and protecting the site. Author names and profile details supplied for publication may appear alongside articles so readers can see who wrote them; we use these details for our legitimate interest in crediting contributors.
Who receives information
Our hosting provider processes technical request information to deliver and secure the site. Ahrefs receives analytics information as described above. We may also disclose information if required by law or where needed to protect the site, its users, or our legal rights.
The email provider used for hello@ionno.de processes messages you send to that address so it can deliver and store correspondence.
How long information is kept
Technical logs are retained according to the security, troubleshooting, and legal needs of the hosting environment. We keep email correspondence and administrator account information only for as long as needed to handle requests, operate the publication, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. Author bylines and profile details remain with the relevant articles while they are published, unless they need to be corrected or removed. Ahrefs retains analytics information under its own service policies. The theme preference stays in your browser until you remove it.
Your choices and rights
You can clear the theme preference through your browser's site data settings. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to restrict its use.
You may object to processing based on our legitimate interests by emailing hello@ionno.de. We will consider your request under the applicable data protection rules.
You can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office if you are concerned about how your information is handled.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our data practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last reviewed.
